Clearly, these intricate arrangements did not just happen. We are dealing with a sophisticated and artistic author. We move to examine other literary pointers of Mark. Summary statements are a feature of Mark’s style. They help to move along the flow of the narrative. The first (1:14–15) opens the mission of Jesus and covers its initial stage. At the close of the specimen day at Capernaum (1:21–34), “all” the sick and possessed of the town were brought to Jesus (1:32–34).
